Laurie Shaffer
Laurie Shaffer is an authentic, encouraging speaker who draws you in with her warm smile and the highly relatable stories from her perfectly imperfect mothering journey. She is passionate about motherhood and has over 20 years of experience coordinating the Mom2Mom ministry at Auburn Hills Christian Center and also serves as a Mentor Mom to the MOPS group that she helped launch in 2015.
Laurie has been married to her junior high school sweetheart for 28 years and is mom to a married son, a daughter-in-love, and 3 girls (one of which joined the family through foster care.) She was pretty sure that potty training was the hardest part of parenting until her first child took driver’s training, and she discovered that putting her life into the hands of her child definitely changes your perspective of hard!
She positions herself as a life-long learner and is eager to share with others the truths she has learned from personal experience and from reading myriads of books on parenting and marriage. Together with her husband, she has facilitated parenting and marriage classes, as well as, Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace course.
Laurie holds an Associate of Arts Degree from William Tyndale College. She has received training for public speaking at the She Speaks Conference and Carol Kent’s Speak Up Conference.
In a rare moment of quiet, you can find her curled up with a good book and a cup of tea, enjoying a game night with friends, or hiking to a waterfall with her family.
She is passionate about:
- Finding joy in the journey
- Encouraging moms that they aren’t alone and helping them find community
- Equipping women with the tools they need to succeed as wives and mothers
- Teaching women how to apply the truths of Scripture to today’s struggles
